§ Mr. Alexanderasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he will make a statement about the future of the exchange risk guarantee scheme, under which the Government provide exchange risk cover on loans from the European Investment Bank and European Coal and Steel Community.
§ Mr. TrippierFollowing an earlier review in 1981 this scheme was extended until the end of this year. The Government have now decided to extend it for a further 12 months to 31 December 1984, within the existing ceiling on new borrowing of £400 million. The future of the scheme after that date will be kept under review.
