§ 24. Mr. Robert Atkinsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on the progress of the Boundary Commissions' work on European Assembly constituencies.
§ Mr. MellorI understand that the Parliamentary Boundary Commissions for England, Scotland and Wales expect to submit their reports recommending new European Parliament constituencies by the end of March 1984, provided there are no unforeseen setbacks. This should leave sufficient time to complete the remaining procedures so that the European Parliament elections in June 1984 can be fought on new boundaries.
