§ 17. Mr. Dalyellasked the Secretary of State for Scotland, pursuant to the statement by the Under-Secretary of State on 21 July, Official Report, c. 645, if he will make a statement on his policy towards the provision of remedial teachers in Scottish schools.
§ Mr. Allan StewartI have commended to education authorities the report by Her Majesty's Inspectors of Schools "the Education of Pupils with Learning Difficulties" which recommended that remedial education should be seen as the responsibility of all class and subject teachers and suggested a consultant role rather than a direct teaching role for remedial staff.
