HC Deb 12 May 1983 vol 42 cc449-50W
Mr. McCusker

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will list the youth community projects presently in operation in county Armagh and identify the sponsoring groups.

Mr. Adam Butler

The following organisations are operating youth community projects in county Armagh:

  • Lurgan—
    • Craigavon area hospital
    • Phoenix youth centre

In addition, the following projects have been approved:

    • Armagh city hospital.

Mr. McCusker

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how the figure of 800 places allocated to youth community projects in Northern Ireland was calculated; and how many places have been taken up.

Mr. Adam Butler

The target figure of 800 full-time training places represents the maximum which can be developed within the resources presently available to the scheme. To date some 590 places have been allocated to sponsors and proposals for a further 175 places are currently under consideration.

Mr. McCusker

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will list the allocation of the 800 places on youth community projects by each travel-to-work area in Northern Ireland; and in how many areas the complement has been taken up.
