§ Mr. Hooleyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will raise in the European Community Council of Ministers the question of special 304W aid to Africa to alleviate the effect of the drought which is now damaging food supplies in an area stretching from Ethiopia to the Republic of South Africa.
§ Mr. RaisonThe European Community has already provided food and other forms of emergency aid to African countries affected by the drought, and has substantial budgetary resources to provide more through its food aid and emergency aid programmes. The drought poses serious problems for certain countries, and we shall keep the matter of the Community's response under review.
