§ Mr. Alexander FletcherIn 1981–82, the latest year for which information is available, net expenditure per pupil in primary schools in Scotland, excluding Western Isles, at out-turn prices was £748. At constant prices this represented an increase of 10.4 per cent. over the equivalent expenditure in 1978–79, in a period in which pupil numbers fell by some 13.5 per cent.
