§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether, in view of the pressure on maternity services in Wolverhampton and its neighbouring districts, and the projected population increase of 30 per cent. over the next decade he will make additional resources available to increase the level of provision and the continuation of the services.
§ Mr. Geoffrey FinsbergThe allocation of resources to Wolverhampton health authorities and to the other 21 district health authorities in the region is the responsibility of the West Midlands regional health authority Over the three years to 1982–83 the west midlands region received growth of 6.7 per cent. and for 1983–84 is to receive a further 1.3 per cent.—both figures above the national average rate of growth, reflecting the fact that the region is relatively deprived.
