§ Mr. Newton[pursuant to his reply, 10 March 1983, c. 482]: I regret that information regarding the number of place of safety orders taken out annually is not available centrally. The table gives the numbers of children in England reported by local authorities as having been removed to a place of safety in the year ended 31 March. The manner of their accommodation is not specified in the return.
