HC Deb 10 March 1983 vol 38 c455W
Mr. Best

asked the Minister for Trade what is the current balance of trade with Vietnam; what criteria he adopts in trade negotiations with Vietnam; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Rees

The figures for 1982 show a balance of trade in the United Kingdom's favour of £750,000—United Kingdom exports £880,000: United Kingdom imports £130,000. The Government are not having, and does not plan to have any trade negotiations with Vietnam. Companies are, however, encouraged to pursue business opportunities there which they regard as commercially sensible.
