HC Deb 10 March 1983 vol 38 c455W
Mr. Watson

asked the Minister for Trade (1) whether he proposes to make a definition order under the Trade Descriptions Act 1968 to regulate the maximum level of moisture in coal and other solid fuel bought for use in the home;

(2) if Her Majesty's Government have any proposals for regulating the amount of moisture that is present in solid fuel as delivered to the consumer for use in the home.

Dr. Vaughan

I see no need for new legislation in this area. The voluntary code of practice operated by the approved coal merchants scheme, which is currently under review, prescribes measures to avoid excessive moisture in coal delivered to domestic consumers as well as procedures for resolving customer complaints.
