HC Deb 10 March 1983 vol 38 cc488-9W
Mr. Frank Allaun

asked the Secretary of State for Defence, in relation to British and Commonwealth personnel who were serving at the nuclear tests from 1952 to 1963, how many men on active service died and of what causes; how many men committed suicide; and how many men suffered neurotic or psychotic disorders and had to be treated or transferred as a result.

Mr. Pattie

The information requested in relation to British personnel is not readily available and could not be obtained without disproportionate cost and effort. The position for commonwealth personnel is a matter for the relevant Governments.
