Mr. Stan Thorne

asked the Minister for Trade if he will list the grants from the English Tourist Board to the North-West tourist board during 1981–82.

During 1981–82 the North-West tourist board received a subvention of £94,600 from the English Tourist Board as a contribution to administration and general running costs.

asked the Minister for Trade whether information regarding grants from the English Tourist Board is made available to members of regional tourist boards.

Mr. Sproat

Members of regional tourist boards are advised by the English Tourist Board of the outcome of grant applications in respect of projects in their area, but they are not given access to commercially confidential information relating to the reasons for approval or rejection.
