§ Mr. Frank Allaunasked the Secretary of State for Defence, following the 1952 Monte Bello test, on what date contamination readings were obtained from HMS Zeebrugge and HMS Campania; what level they were; when each ship and landing craft was declared safe for crew use; and what subsequent use was made of each ship and landing craft involved.
§ Mr. PattieThe readings for the contamination of HMS Zeebrugge and HMS Campania were too low to be a matter for permanent record. The ships and their associated craft did not any time present a radiological danger to their crews. The ships were checked during the course of the operations and on their return to the United Kingdom, and they continued to be used without restriction throughout the remainder of their working lives.
