asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if there are any plans to upgrade the A8 between Baillieston and Newhouse to motorway standards thereby completing the M8 from Glasgow to Edinburgh.

Design studies for improving the A8 to motorway standard from Baillieston to Newhouse are proceeding. An extension of the M8 from Newbridge to link with the Edinburgh outer city bypass is also planned.
