asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will provide a breakdown by number and percentage of men aged 55 to 65 years unemployed in (a) Glasgow and (b) Scotland for each of the past five years.

The table shows the number of males aged 55 to 64 years registered as unemployed—the old basis of the unemployment count—in the Glasgow travel-to-work area and in Scotland in October 1982, the latest date for which information is available, and in October in each of the previous four years.
