§ Mr. Norman Atkinsonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what assistance is being given by the British Council to the Turkish Government for the purpose of recruiting British university teachers and scientists; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. OnslowThe British Council is not assisting the Turkish Government to recruit British university teachers and scientists and has received no request from the Turkish Government to do so. It does, however, foster academic links between the two countries as with many others. This activity may involve inter alia short-term visits of up to three months in either direction.
