As regards 1984–85, preparatory work is progressing as quickly as possible on several major schemes intended to start in that year. It is hoped that these will include bypasses of Ellon, Forres, Alness, Forfar and Annan, improvements in the Aberdeen and Dundee areas and further work on the M74 south of Glasgow.
