which will make information about jobs in other parts of the country more readily available to jobcentre staff and their clients. It will allow selected job vacancy information to be sent from any jobcentre, via existing vacancy circulation computer systems, to a single national computer file to which jobcentre staff will have ready access. The development of further computerised systems to handle job vacancies in the employment service is under consideration, but expenditure on such developments will be authorised only if they prove more cost-effective than present arrangements and offer the prospect of offsetting savings to the taxpayer.
