§ Mr. GummerAt May 1983, the rate for unemployed claimants was 14.7 per cent. in the Grimsby jobcentre area and 13.8 per cent. in the North Tyne travel-to-work area, which includes Newcastle upon Tyne. The rates for registered unemployed at May 1970 were 3.8 per cent. and 4.7 per cent. respectively.
§ Mr. John Fraserasked the Secretary of State for Employment how many people are registered unemployed at careers offices and employment offices in Lambeth; and how many have been unemployed for more than six months.
§ Mr. GummerAt 12 May, the total number of unemployed claimants in the area covered by the Brixton, Stockwell, Streatham and West Norwood jobcentres, which corresponds closely to Lambeth, was 19,928. At 14 April, the latest date for which an analysis by duration of unemployment is available, out of a total number of 20,084 unemployed claimants in the area, 11,626 had been unemployed for over 26 weeks.
