HC Deb 29 July 1983 vol 46 cc710-1W
Mr. Kennedy

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether the members appointed to regional water authority boards by the Government will be expected to have a knowledge of conservation.

Mr. Waldegrave

The reduced membership of water authorities under section 1 of the Water Act 1983 precludes the allocation of places to particular interests such as conservation. However, an interest in conservation would be an advantage for a candidate for membership of a water authority.
