§ Mr. Cormackasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he will issue a new circular on school closures laying down clear and firm guidelines on the procedure to be followed by local authorities during their consultations with parents and others when proposals are made for any school closure.
§ Mr. DunnGuidance is already provided in paragraph 5 of the Department's circular 2/80 and paragraph 22 of circular 2/81. If followed, adequate opportunities should be provided for consultation with parents and others concerned.
