§ Dr. Roger Thomasasked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will take steps to implement the provisions of the Abortion Act 1967 evenly;
(2) if he will introduce legislation to extend the provisions of the Abortion Act 1967 to the whole of the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeUnder Northern Ireland law, abortions may be carried out only where the mother or child is at substantial medical risk. This is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland. The Act already applies to other parts of the United Kingdom.
