§ Mr. Alex Carlileasked the Secretary of State for Wales how many primary schools in Wales with fewer than 50 pupils were closed during 1982; how many such schools he anticipates will be closed during 1983; and whether he has any proposals for securing the future of village schools in Wales as an integral component of the local community.
§ Mr. John Stradling ThomasEight. Future levels of closure cannot be anticipated since these are dependent upon proposals initiated by local education authorities and others. The community use of schools is one of the many factors taken into account by my right hon. Friend in considering those closure proposals which are subject to his decision.
