§ Mr. Wardellasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he is aware of any studies that have been undertaken of the possible relationship between a number of people convicted of shoplifting and the consumption by those people of certain drugs, the names of which have been supplied to him.
§ Mr. John PattenI understand that the drugs referred to are Librium, Valium and Ativan which are all members of the Benzodiazepine group of tranquillising drugs. I am aware of no such studies undertaken in the United Kingdom.
