§ Mrs. ChalkerA total of £1,801 million was spent on English roads in 1981–82, including £823 million on new construction and improvement. The figures cover motorways, trunk roads and local authority roads. Final figures for 1982–83 are not yet available. I am not responsible for road expenditure in other parts of the United Kingdom.
