The statistics relating to actions claiming damages for personal injuries do not distinguish208W the circumstances in which those injuries were, or were alleged to have been suffered. The estimated number of personal injury actions proceeding to trial and heard in the High Court in England and Wales during 1982 was 3,400. Of these the estimated number in which judgement was given for the plaintiff was 2,800.
