§ Mr. Hordernasked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many acres were notified to the register of land held by local authorities and nationalised industries as sutiable for development; and how many of these acres have since been sold.
§ Mr. MacfarlaneThere is no requirement to notify land as suitable for development but it is estimated that of the 110,000 acres of registered land some 40 per cent. appears to have fair development potential. Information being collected for the six-monthly monitoring returns of 1 July provisionally indicates that some 8,500 acres have now been disposed of or brought into use.
