§ Sir Brandon Rhys Williamsasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish indices for each year since 1978–79 and 1978–79 = 100, comparing (a) public expenditure, (b) retail prices index, (c) index of industrial production, and (d) wages, salaries and income from self-employment.

The percentage increases for these salaries since April 1979 are 82–8 per cent, and 136–2 per cent. respectively.
