§ Mr. Alec Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Wales if, further to his reply of 26 April 1982, Official Report, c. 190, concerning housing expenditure, he will now give a breakdown of the following aggregated figures for 1982–83 contained in his reply namely (a) capital expenditure, local authority gross expenditure £150 million (b) total new towns gross investment £4 million, (c) total sales and repayments £62 million, in terms of the original 1982–83 estimate and the provisional outturn for 1982–83.
§ Mr. Wyn RobertsLocal authorities and new towns are able to set their own priorities for capital expenditure and any disaggregation of the total provision would therefore be misleading.
Total local authority housing capital provision for the current year has been increased as a result of the Budget provisions for expenditure on house renovation grants and, including expenditure on gipsies, now totals £156 million.
Based on the latest available information, estimated outturn for housing capital expenditure for 1982–83 is as follows:
