§ Mr. Bowen Wellsasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if Her Majesty's Government will provide assistance to those who suffered in the South African raid on Lesotho on 9 December.
§ Mr. RaisonHer Majesty's Government have offered a contribution of £5,000 to the relief fund established by the Lesotho Prime Minister for the support of the families of the victims of the raid. Parliamentary approval of this new service will be sought in a Supplementary Estimate for the overseas aid Vote. Pending that approval, the necessary expenditure will be met by a repayable advance from the Contingencies Fund.
