HC Deb 21 February 1983 vol 37 cc329-30W
Mr. David Watkins

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what oil stocks are maintained in the United Kingdom under the terms of the International Energy Agency agreements; and how many days of normal consumption they represent.

Mr. Gray

None. The International Energy Agency oil stocks requirement is based on net imports and therefore does not affect the United Kingdom. Reserve oil stocks for emergency use are, however, maintained under our obligations to the European Community. Under these the United Kingdom is required to maintain 76½ days of supply based on consumption in the previous calendar year.

Mr. Les Huckfield

asked the Secretary of State for Energy whether he will list those individuals, organisations and authorities which qualify to be classified as statutory objectors in the case of the application for opencast mining near Bermuda village, Nuneaton, under the Opencast Mining Act 1958.

Mr. John Moore

The objectors to the NCB's application for the Sudeley opencast site are Nuneaton and Bedworth borough council, Mr. F. H. M. Fitzroy Newdegate and R. J. Cresswell and Sons.
