HC Deb 21 February 1983 vol 37 c315W
Mr. John Spellar

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if the Health and Safety Executive will investigate the relationship between electrical occupations and mortality from leukaemia which was discussed in an article in The Lancet of 29 January.

Mr. Gummer

The Health and Safety Executive's Employment Medical Advisory Service is aware ofThe Lancet article. The National Radiological Protection Board (NRPB), which has statutory duties to provide information and advice on radiological hazards, has issued for comment a consultative document which proposes exposure standards for non-ionising electro magnet radiation. The Health and Safety Executive will consider suitable action in the light of the advice to be tendered by the NRPB.
