§ Mr. Hannamasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what progress has been made on the implementation of the recommendation from the conference on the Education Act 1981 held on 15 November 1982, that the Voluntary Council for Handicapped Children undertake consultations on establishing a body equivalent to a national advisory committee to monitor the implementation of the Education Act and disseminate examples of good practice; and if he will make a statement.
§ Dr. BoysonThe voluntary council has written to me asking for the Department's help in servicing a working 373W party to carry out this task. I have replied offering alternative forms of assistance. Talks at official level will begin shortly to discuss how matters can best be taken forward.
