§ Mr. BrittanI was encouraged to note that the report recognises the Government's successes—in reducing inflation, opening up the nationalised industries to competition and promoting deregulation. These are essential to sustainable recovery. I also welcome the 231W OECD's helpful remarks on the need for continued moderation in pay settlements and that the dialogue between the social partners should be strengthened.
