§ Mr. Proctorasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he has made any study of the recommendations put forward by the Equal Opportunities Commission concerning (a) the monitoring of school playgrounds for signs of sex stereo-typical play activity among children, (b) the vetting of teaching materials with particular regard to parenting activities and (c) the 161W introduction of gender-free books into schools to replace books that make sexual distinctions; what conclusions he has drawn from his study; and if he will make a statement.
§ Dr. BoysonThese recommendations are not addressed to Ministers. The Government have repeatedly stressed the importance of giving genuinely equal curricular opportunities to boys and girls.
