§ Mr. Woolmerasked the Minister for Trade how many countries, accounting for what percentage of world shipping, have now signed the United Nations liner conference code.
§ Mr. Sproat[pursuant to his reply, 9 February 1983, c. 350]: Fifty-six countries have now signed the United Nations convention on a code of conduct for liner conferences. The combined general cargo and container ship tonnage of these countries accounted for 20.81 per cent. of this class of world tonnage as recorded in the Lloyd's Register of Shipping in 1973.
