HL Deb 09 February 1983 vol 438 cc1317-8WA
Lord Allen of Abbeydale

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What steps they are taking to secure greater consistency between the decisions of medical tribunals under the Vaccine Damage Payments Act 1979, given that their statistics show that, for example, only 19 per cent, of applicants to the Edinburgh tribunal have been successful, compared with 39 per cent. of applicants to the Nottingham tribunal.

Lord Trefgarne

: Vaccine Damage Tribunals are independent adjudicating authorities and it would be inappropriate for me to comment on their decisions.
