§ Mr. Higginsasked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make arrangements for zigzag lines, similar to those indicating that parking is prohibited immediately before pedestrian crossings, to be painted ahead of traffic lights, in order to reduce road accidents.
§ Mrs. ChalkerAs local authorities already have powers to prohibit parking at any location, where it is justified on traffic management or road safety grounds, by making a traffic regulation order, it does not seem necessary for zig zag lines to be added. The existing bans are indicated by the yellow line road markings and associated signs.
