§ Mr. George Robertsonasked the Secretary of State for Transport what representations he has received about dual control cars being made available for public hire for the purposes of teaching novice drivers; if he will take action on this matter; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mrs. ChalkerThe Department has received representations from several driving instructor organisations about the use by learner drivers of hire cars fitted with dual controls. In such cases the Department will seek to ensure that hiring companies are aware of the law on paid driving instruction, and will emphasise the desirability for hirers to be briefed on the proper use of dual controls.
