§ Mr. NewtonComprehensive figures are not available for years later than 1979. Unclaimed supplementary benefit was then estimated to be £355 million and £55 million was estimated to be unclaimed in relation to other benefits, including one-parent benefit, for which a 219W significant take-up problem existed. Unclaimed one-parent benefit was estimated to amount to £22 million in 1980–81 and £25 million in 1981–82.
