§ Ms. Harmanasked the Secretary of State for Energy what actions have been taken to protect personnel working at or visiting Sellafield, in view of the recent leak of radioactive material.
§ Mr. Giles ShawI am advised by the chairman of the Health and Safety Commission that, following the incident in November at the Sellafield site which resulted in the contamination of the beach near the site, radiation levels on the site returned to normal, and that no workers or others on the site have received significant radiation doses. Normal procedure for the radiological protection of workers and members of the public continue to be applied as required under the nuclear site licence.
