asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what steps are currently taken by Her Majesty's Government to protect British pig producers against the importation of diseases likely to affect pigs; and if he will make a statement.

Strict controls are applied to imports of pigs, pigmeat and pigmeat products, as necessary, as a safeguard against the introduction of disease. Throughout, the figures relate to total exports to countries not members of the Community, some of which will not have received export refunds.
