Friend will recall. that I said in my speech at the Guildhall on 14 November that I sought a better relationship between East and West: Britain was ready to pursue, in the right circumstances, a sensible dialogue with the Soviet Union and the countries of Eastern Europe, and it was in that spirit that I had accepted an invitation to visit Hungary early next year.
I hope to have an exchange of views on all major aspects of concern in the field of East-West relations generally and, at a bilateral level, to explore ways in which it may be possible to expand still further our commercial, economic and cultural relations to our mutual benefit.
