HC Deb 20 December 1983 vol 51 c122W
Mr. Donald Stewart

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if, pursuant to his answer to the right hon. Member for Western Isles of 1 November 1983, he will give additional figures to show (a) the acreage of land in Scotland over which his Department has rights and (b) the figure for the Borders region, inclusive of the two Territorial Army Volunteer Reserve facilities.

Mr. Pattie

The Ministry of Defence has rights over 20,566 acres of land in Scotland. Apart from a few small properties, which overall total less than one acre the MOD holds no land in the Borders region; TAVRA, which holds land in its own right, leases some 567 acres.
