§ Mr. Winnickasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will receive a deputation over the future of the West Midlands college before he makes a final decision on the matter.
§ Mr. BrookeOn 8 November I received a deputation comprising the hon. Member together with one of my hon. Friends, other hon. Gentlemen and representatives of the local education authorities and the West Midlands college of higher education about the recommendations of the national advisory body for local authority higher education that, with effect from 1984–85, there should be no intakes to courses at the college other than to teacher training courses. My right hon. Friend has been fully apprised of the points raised at that meeting and he is bearing them in mind in arriving at his decision. He will be making a statement later today on the provision to be made in 1984–85 in the local authority sector of higher education.
