HL Deb 19 December 1983 vol 446 c578WA
Lord Chelwood

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are satisfied that effective machinery exists for regular consultation between the European Community and the United States, with regard both to short- and long-term policies and to contingency plans in the Middle East; that the Community view has not only been forcefully expressed but taken fully into account; and whether they have any proposals for improvement.

Baroness Young

Yes. We and our partners in the Ten regularly exchange views about the Middle East with the United States both bilaterally and through the Presidency. I am satisfied that the United States Government fully understand our point of view.
