HC Deb 19 December 1983 vol 51 cc95-6W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether any investigations have been undertaken by his Department into difficulties experienced by United Kingdom firms operating in Ireland, with particular regard to their dealings with Udaras na Gaeltacht; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Channon

United Kingdom firms have occasionally approached my Department about difficulties that they have experienced in the Irish Republic. Where appropriate we have supported these approaches by drawing them to the attention of the Irish authorities. The Udaras na Gaeltacht is an agency of the Irish Government and it is the responsibility of the Irish authorities to investigate any alleged complaints about it.
