§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeExpected gross capital expenditure on the NHS in England in 1983–84 is £710 million out of the expected total gross expenditure of £12.8 billion referred to in my reply of 9 December. As indicated in that reply, my right hon. Friends the Secretaries of State for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are responsible for expenditure in other parts of the United Kingdom. Gross capital expenditure on the NHS in the United Kingdom, including personal social services in Northern Ireland, is expected to be about £890 million out of the expected total expenditure of about £16 billion.
