HC Deb 12 December 1983 vol 50 cc356-63W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will give the number of discharges by age of residents of long-stay mental handicap hospitals, by district, for the most recent three years for which figures are available; if he will specify the number of deaths; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John Patten

[pursuant to his reply, 29 November 1983, c. 470]: The information which could be obtained without disproportionate cost is given in the following three tables. Mental handicap hospitals and units are not classified by the length of time patients stay, so the tables cover all such hospitals and units. The figures given include discharges of patients who were admitted for short periods.
