HC Deb 12 December 1983 vol 50 cc373-4W
Mr. Raffan

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many dwellings in Wales were either unfit, lacked at least one basic amenity or were in serious disrepair in 1971; what was the comparative figure for 1981; and how many of these dwellings were unoccupied.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

Figures are not available in this detail before the 1981 Welsh House Condition Survey. The WHCS, 1981, estimated that in 1981 there were 187,200 dwellings which were either(a) unfit, (b) fit, but lacking one or more standard amenities, (c) fit, possessing all amenities but in serious disrepair. No information on the occupancy rates of such dwellings is available.
